Yes, 100%. For me it comes down to the fact that it can feel terrifying to do this for real. We are so used to living from within our identities, our conditioned stories, our thoughts, that when they're seen as not the truth, the nervous system freaks out. At this point it's way easier to retreat back into the spiritual identity and pretend like you're doing this stuff for real.

At that point there can be a real recoil, and one of the easiest ways out is to slip into a spiritual identity and call that freedom. That can look convincing for a long time, but it is still another refuge, another position, another version of self.
