This Radiance — I. The First Sutra
The Miracle of Actuality
This Radiance is a poetic unfolding of the Pratyabhijñāhṛdayam — The Heart of Recognition.
Each sutra points to what is already here:
this luminous field of experience,
free, whole, self-knowing.
These pieces are not translations but responses — modern echoes of that same seeing:
that consciousness itself
is what shines as everything.
Everything that appears —
this seeing,
this hearing,
this quiet weave of breath and thought —
is the movement of one thing.
A freedom so vast
it leans on nothing,
rests nowhere,
needs no cause.
This alone —
this living presence —
is what all depends on,
what all is made of,
and what knows itself
as all.
Nothing stands apart.
Nothing remains outside.
This is not an idea.
It is the fact —
happening now,
before thought names it.
Mind calls it world.
Philosophy calls it being.
The sages called it Citi —
self-luminous,
free,
whole.
Every flicker,
every thought,
every form,
every breath of you,
is this same radiance
folding and unfolding itself
in play.
To see this —
to feel your life,
your body,
your world,
as this —
is to wake
from the long dream
of being other
than what is.
This recognition
is Yoga —
not a path,
but the stilling of all paths
in what has never moved.
From the first sutra of the Pratyabhijñāhṛdayam — Kṣemarāja, 11th century.

This is beautiful!
A clear Advaita pointing: non-dual, self-luminous, unsupported, and immediate. It dissolves subject–object separation, keeps recognition pre-conceptual, and frames Yoga as knowledge rather than path. Poetic without straying into metaphysics, recognition, not attainment.
Thank you for introducing me to this scripture. I haven’t studied it and this gives me an opportunity and an impetus to engage with it.
